Graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family at Grove Cemetery by the Rev. Russell Manns. Military services will be conducted.
There will be no visitation.
He died Friday, June 5, 1998, at his home.
He was born July 22, 1931, in Kenton, to Russel and Dorothy (Cannode) Shirk. His mother survives in Dunkirk.
Surviving are four daughters, Penny (Jerry) Ropp of Bellville, Mich., Jackie (Randy) Rader of Kenton, Susan Scott of Delaware, Ohio, and Lisa (Charles) Burleson of Garden City, Mich.; two sons, Terry and Chip (Terri), both of Kenton; a sister, Peggy (Mike) Fry of Celina; a brother Garry (Kathy) of lakeview, seven grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by three brothers.
He was a self-employed laborer. He served in the U.S. Army, and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 3333 in Kenton, the Moose Lodge and Eagles Lodge in Indian Lake, and the AMVETS post in Indian Lake.
Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
