Dr. Richard E. Needler died at 12:05pm Aug 15, 2007 at his residence.
He was born Jun 5, 1926 in Hartford City, IN to Bernice (Street) and Hurby Needler who preceded him in death. On Oct 19, 1947, he married Helen Peterson, who survives in Columbus Grove.
Dr. Needler, a highly respected and well-known chiropractor, loved his profession which he practiced for over 50 years in Columbus Grove and Lima, OH. He was a 1944 graduate of Hartford City High School in Hartford City, IN, as well as a graduate of Ft. Wayne International Business School and Lincoln Chiropractic College in Indianapolis, IN. He started his practice in Columbus Grove in 1953.
He was a signal man in the US Navy and was a life member of the American Legion, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Eagles, and the Benevolent Protective Order of the Elks Lodge 54. He was also a member of the Columbus Grove United Church of Christ where he sang in the choir and previously served as a trustee.
Dr. Needler is survived by his two children, Dr. John (Kathleen) Needler and Beth (Herb) Huffman of Columbus Grove and his five grandchildren, Noah, Hannah, Sarah, Grace, Clay and great granddaughter, Ainsley. He is also survived by his sister, Gerri VanAtter from Muncie, IN. Everyone who knew Richard Needler recognized that his life evolved around his family and moments spent with them brought him immeasurable joy.
Services will begin at 11am Sat at Hartman Sons Funeral Home in Columbus Grove. Pastors Larry Blunden and Denny Coats will officiate and burial will be in Truro Cemetery.
