Richard Dontje of Manton died suddenly Wed, Aug 17, 2005, at his home. He was 45.
Richard was born in Cadillac on Jan 20, 1960, to Daniel and Jeanne (Gilde) Dontje. He grew up in Vicksburg and graduated from Vicksburg High School in 1978 and has been a resident of the Manton area for about 25 years.
Richard served in the Michigan National Guard and had been employed at 4 Winns, Cadillac Rubber and Plastics, and did custom tree work. He was an outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, canoeing, and boating, mushrooming, and all of nature.
Survivors include his longtime companion, Sue Folk; parents, Daniel and Jeanne Dontje of Fife Lake; two sisters, Pamela (Dale) Ingersoll, and Robyn (Todd) Czuk, both of South Boardman; grandmother, Marge Dontje of Cadillac; uncles Ed Gilde of Manton and Gerry Dontje of El Dorado, AR; great aunt Agnes Pettingill of Nashville, TN; nieces and nephews, Jeffrey, Justin, and Jessica Ingersoll, and Ashley, Lyndsey, and Jacob Czuk.
He was preceded in death by grandparents, Roger Dontje and Aylis Gilde.
A memorial service was to be held on Sat, Aug 20 at 1 pm at the American Legion Post in South Boardman.
Arrangements were made by the Hall Funeral Chapel, Manton.
