Richard Hughey, 70, of West Branch passed away at his home Oct 19, 2004, after an extended illness.
He was born Sep 2, 1934, and had lived in West Branch for most of his life. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and served as an usher, was a past chairman of the First United Methodist Church Council, a member of the United Methodist Men's Club, and a member of the Memorial Garden Committee and the parish staff relations committee.
Dick was also a member of the Ogemaw Heights Athletic Boosters and worked for more than 50 years as a member of the Ogemaw Heights Football "chain gang." He was also active in many sports leagues in West Branch.
Dick is survived by his wife, Nancy Hughey of West Branch; children, (Anil) Kumar of Bloomfield Hills, Charlene (Don) Asay of Waterford, CT, Bradley Hughey, Keith (Joyce) Clark, Lisa (Bryan) Stein, and Alex Clark all of West Branch, Eric (Cindy) Clark of Cadillac, Rhonda Hughey of Kalkska, Christine (Randy) Owen of Whittemore, Michelle (Mario) Lucchesi of Alma, Lorraine (Christopher) Siummo of Phoenix, AZ, and Randy Hughey of Grand Rapids; 19 grandchildren; two great grandchildren, and his brothers, Ronald (Irene) Hughey of Fort Charlotte, FL, Gary (Barbara) Hughey , Ken (Nancy) Hughey, Doug (Sue) Hughey, and Roger (Gayle) Hughey, all of West Branch, and Tom (Mary) Hughey of Elsie; and many nieces and nephews.
The funeral service was held Oct 22 at The First United Methodist Church in West Branch. The Rev. Mark Miller officiated.
