Richard C. Heystek of Montrose, age 44, died Tue, May 30, 2023 at Ascension Genesys Hospital of Grand Blanc after a short battle with cancer. Funeral Service will be held at 11 am Sat, Jun 3, 2023 at O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Montrose, MI. Pastor Hal Phillips officiating. The family will receive visitors on Fri, Jun 2, 2023 from 4 pm to 7 pm and on Sat, Jun 3, 2023 from 10 am until the time of service at the funeral home. Burial in Montrose Township Cemetery.
Richard was born Oct 23, 1978 in Saginaw, MI to Christopher and Frances (Clark) Heystek. He grew up in Montrose, MI and graduated from Montrose High School with the class of 1997. Richard received his Associates Degree from Baker College. He worked in the family business, Heystek Contracting, Inc. with his dad, brother, and family, as a laborer and operator for 23 years.
Richard then went on to work for the Genesee County Road Commission as an equipment operator. He was a member of the Frankenmuth Forest Archers and the Michigan Bow Hunters Association. Richard enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and shooting guns. He liked gardening, cooking, and snowmobiling as well. However, spending time with family and being an Uncle was his greatest joy in life.
Surviving are: mother, Frances Heystek; brother, Anthony (Johlyn) Heystek; nephews, Landon Allard, Jase Heystek; grandparents, Sharon Clark, Joann Heystek; aunts and uncles, Vondy Petiprin, Noni (Amy) Clark, Patti (Derek) Clark, John (Nancy Hemingway) Heystek, Joe (Brenda) Heystek, Jayne (Kirk) Bachman, Bill Heystek and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Christopher Heystek; grandfathers, Richard R. Clark, Joseph J Heystek; uncle, Cliff Petipren; aunt, Jackie Stafford.
