Rebecca, 62, of Holt, formerly of Kalkaska, passed away Apr 22, 2011. She was born on Apr 28, 1948 in Grayling, to the late Bernie and Hilda (Groner) Batemen.
Rebecca had a passion for gardening, cooking, and spending time with family and friends. She always enjoyed her visits back to the family farm in Kalkaska.
Rebecca is survived by her loving husband, Thomas Gamez, Sr.; her sons, Thomas Jr. (Diane) and Marcus Gamez; her siblings, Bernard "Sunny" (Bev) Bateman, Tom (Cathy) Bateman, Judy (Ralph) Chapman, and Sheila (John Dedyne) Jenks; uncle, Douglas Bateman, uncle, Norman (Jean) Groner, and a special aunt, Alta Bennett. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her sisters, Diana Kyte and Rita Rhodes. The family would like to extend its gratitude for the wonderful care Rebecca received from Ingham Regional Medical Center (Dr. Ferik, Dr. Pugmire, and the compassionate nursing staff) during her last months.
In lieu of flowers, for those wishing, memorial contributions may be made to the Greater Lansing Food Bank in memory of Rebecca.
A celebration of Rebecca's life was held on Thursday, April 28, 2011 at The Charlar Place, Holt, MI. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, April 30, 2011 at the cemetery, Kalkaska.
