Raymond "Leroy" Hill, 78, of Williamsburg, passed away on Sunday , December 19, 2010 at Kalkaska Memorial Health Center. He was born on June 5, 1932 in Rapid City To the Late Raymond A. and Grace Lenora (Atkinson) Hill.
Leroy served his country proudly as a member of the United States Navy. He married the former Harriet B. Burke on June 7, 1956 in Kalkaska. Together they raised four wonderful sons. Leroy retired as a truck driver and equipment operator from the Kalkaska Road Commision in 1994. He was a member of the United Steel Workers Local 8287. An active member of the community, Leroy coached Little League baseball and volunteered many hours at the Kalkaska Winterfest. He enjoyed hunting, camping and being outdoors. One of the things Leroy loved most through was fishing with his boys.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 54 years, Harriet; his loving sons, Steven Leroy (Laurel) Hill of Mandville, LA, David Arthur (Judy) Hill of Kalkaska, Charles Duane Hill of Kalaska, Paul Alan (Andrea) Hill of Kalkaska; his ten cherished grandchildren, his five precious great-grandchildren, dear sisters Alice Hill of Rapid City and Marie (Irvin) Coututier of Sparta; and extended family members, Deborah and Jerry Pascoe of Burton.
Leroy was preceded in death by his siblings, Joyce Patton, Francis Hill, John Hill, Gerald "Duke" Hill and Sandra Elaine Griffiths.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday December 21, for 6-9 p.m. at the Wolfe-O'Neil Funeral Home. Funeral services will be on Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with Jeff Badgero of the Kalkaska Church of Christ officiating.
Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery.
