Raymond L. Cotton, 82, of Kalkaska, died Fri, Jul 26, 1991 at his home following a long illness.
Mr. Cotton was born near Vermontville on Aug 14, 1908, the son of Glenn and Edith (Gearhart) Cotton. At the age of four years he moved with his parents to Excelsior Township in Kalkaska County where he lived the rest of his life.
On Jun 4, 1935, in Kalkaska County, he married Phebe Dunlap who survives. Also surviving are their five children, Donald of Excelsior Township, Glenn of Gainesville, FL, Mrs. Gerald (Margaret) Ritenburgh of Harris, Mrs. Myron (Elizabeth) Priest of Coldsprings Township, and Mrs. Paul (Jane) Werner of Clarkston; one sister, Louise Groner of Kalkaska; 16 grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
He made farming his profession. For 27 years he farmed in partnership with his father, and for 18 years in partnership with his son, Donald. In 1974, Raymond and Phebe retired and sold their share of the farm to their son, continuing to live in their hone. They spent 16 winters near Lakeland, FL.
He was a member of Excelsior Church of Christ and an Honorary member of the local W.C.T.U.
Funeral services were held Mon, Jul 29, 1991, at the Wolfe Funeral Home in Kalkaska. Rev. Virgil Peterson officiated. Burial was in Excelsior Township Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to the Excelsior Church of Christ or the Gideons International.
