Raymond H. Pckett, 82, of 802 N. Lakeshore Dr, Ludington, died Jun 29 at Memorial Medical Center of West Michigan following a brief illness.
Raymond H. Pickett was born Apr 27, 1916 in Reed City, the son of Clyde and Vera Pickett. He moved to Scottville with his family at the age of 2. He graduated from Scottville High School and was employed in the meat department of Schoenberger’s Markert prior to serving with the U.S. Army during WWII. After his military service he worked again at Schoenberger’s. He then worked for Kroger Stroe and Dow before becoming manager of the meat department at Giantway.
He was married Apr 13, 1947, in Ludington to Averill E. Ayers and she survives.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one sister in law, Mrs. Fred (Mildred Anne) Hamlin of Pentwater; three nephews, Michael D (and Valerie) Petersen and their children Dyland and Alicia Witt of Otsego, Mark P (and Connie Peterson and their children Brooks, Joseph and Darcy Petersen of Pentwater, and Martin T. Petersen of Arvada, CO.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Carl Pickett.
Private family services for Raymond H Pickett will be conducted at 11 am Wednesday at the Dorrell Funeral Home Chapel, with the Ludington Lodge No 736 B.P.O.E. officiating. Interment will be in Lakeview Cemetery. The family will gather at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
