Raymond Edmund Getner, 82, of Kalkaska, formerly of Canton, passed away peacefully on Wed, Jun 18, 2003.
He was born on May 14, 1921 in Detroit.
Raymond married Virginia Rose Hulse in Hawaii on Oct 23, 1944, and she preceded him in death in 1952. On Jul 3, 1954, he married Elizabeth Holsapple who also preceded him in death in 1986.
Raymond worked as a pattern maker/ machinist and supplied the automotive industry. He bowled when he was younger, and liked hunting and fishing.
Raymond is survived by his children, Rita T (Frank) Peters of Kalkaska, Rose Ann Lacy of Canton; stepchildren, Sylvia June (Harold) Blehm of Gagetown, Cynthia (Henry) Bobeck of Port Hope and Larry (Lorieann) Blech of TX; six grandchildren; seven great great grandchildren; seven step grandchildren and seven step great grandchildren; brother Edwin S (Eleanor) Getner of Bloomfield Hills; and very close friend, Martha Ilier of Garden City.
Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, Edmund Martin and Julia H (Kotwas) Getner; his sister, Rita T Gogolkiewicz; and one step great grandchild.
Family and friends visited the Vermeulen Funeral Home on Fri, Jun 20 from 4 to 9 pm. The funeral service was held Sat, Jun 21, at 11 am at the funeral home.
Interment will be at Mt Olivet Cemetery in Wayne County.
