Raymond A. Young, 71, of Cloverdale, VA, passed away on Monday, December 5, 2016. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur E. and Marion S. Young of Rochester, NY; and a half sister, Navoda Sharpe.
Raymond proudly served in the United States Marine Corps during Vietnam. He retired after 30 years of service with Newport News Shipbuilding. After retirement, Raymond and his wife, opened and operated Miles of Styles in Daleville until July of 2016. Raymond was an avid fisherman and loved stamp and coin collecting. He also enjoyed extensive traveling with his family.
Raymond is survived by his wife of 48 years, Sybil Lakes Young; son and daughter-in-law, Tige and Julie Young of Laurel, MD; two granddaughters, Alyssa and Ashley Young; a sister in law, Carole Reavis and husband, Paul, of Cloverdale; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, December 9, 2016, at Oakey’s East Chapel with the Rev. Patrick Starkey officiating. Interment will follow with Military Honors in Old Dominion Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, December 8, 2016, at the funeral home.
