Raymond A. Thorington, 72, of Greenville, died Fri, May 10, 1991, at Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids.
A past president of Local 137 UAW, serving for 10 years, he retired in 1979 from White Consolidated Industries Refrigerator Division after 32 years employment. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Greenville.
He was born Aug 17, 1918, in Kalkaska County, the son of Arthur and Verda Dean Thorington. On Aug 23, 1939, he married Nellie B Outman in Kalkaska who survives.
Also surviving are a daughter and son in law, Nancy and Kenneth Harriman of Greenville; two sons and their wives, Stanley and Ruth Thorington of Saranac, Allan and Karen Thorington of White Cloud; three grandsons, three granddaughters, a foster grandson, two great grandsons and a great granddaughter.
Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Francis (Bernice) Helsel of Baldwin, Mrs. Devere (Alice) Mathews, of Gaylord; three brothers, John Thorington of Cascade, Cecil Thorington of Kalkaska, Robert and Betty Thorington of Cedar Springs; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Kenneth, Wilbur, Roy and Edward Thorington.
Funeral services were held Mon, May 13, 1991, at Brown-Teman Funeral Home in Greenville. Rev. Ron Bell officiated. Burial was in Hillcrest Cemetery, Six Lakes.
