Ray Wren, 92, a resident of Olympia since 1941, died of a heart attack on Tuesday, Dec. 21, 1993, on State Street, Olympia, near his apartment, on his way home from a nearby restaurant.
He was born March 22, 1901, to James Erwin Wren and Cora May Hevland in Elgin, Ore.
He married Lula Jayne (Jeffers) Banker on Feb 16, 1946, in Olympia.
Mr. Wren served in the U.S. Navy just after World War I.
He went to work for Goodyear Tire Co. in 1945, then managed different Goodyear stores from 1947 to 1955. He bought into Washington Cleaners in Olympia in 1956.
Mr. Wren enjoyed watching TV and fishing.
He was a member of the Lions Club – he joined in 1948, was president of the Olympia club from 1961 to 1962, was zone chairman from 1964 to 1965 and was district governor from 1966 to 1967.
Surviving Mr. Wren are five stepchildren, Oren D. Banker, Bellevue, Helen Lozier, Buckley, Ruth Zack, Portland, Ore., Joan Conway, Olympia, and Ramona Griffin, Covallis, Ore.; a sister, Crystal Burlingame, Richland; a brother, Carl Wren, Dear Park; and 17 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.
There will be no services for Mr. Wren.
The family suggests that memorials may be made to the Salvation Army.
