Cheboygan – A Cheboygan man was pronounced dead on arrival at Community Memorial Hospital after apparently suffering a heart attack while deer hunting Friday morning, according to State Police, Cheboygan post, reports.
Ray Eugene Dyer, 80, 6692 S. River Road, was walking in the woods with his wife when he slumped over and she went for help, reports indicated.
He was born July 2, 1904 in Paradise, the son of Charles and Elizabeth Dyer. He worked for Ford Motor Company for several years as a line inspector, retiring about 25 years ago. Following his retirement he moved to the Cheboygan area. Me married Avis LaPorte Sept. 15, 1982.
He is survived by his wife: two sons: Eugene of Port Huron and Orville of Bellville; three daughters: Mrs. Eber (Mary) Bolinger of Cheboygan, Mrs. Jack (Beatrice) Preseau of Cheboygan and Mrs. Donald (Ora) Lanning of Milford; 17 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and two brothers: Jay of West Virginia and Earl of California.
He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Cheboygan and of UAW Local 898
Funeral services will be held today at 2 p.m. at the Nordman Funeral Home, with the Rev. Thomas Schutt officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Mullet Lake.
