Traverse City - Randal Lee Hoy, 38, a lifelong resident of Traverse City, died at his home Friday.
Born Aug. 3, 1960, in Traverse City, he was the son of Lee W. and Karleen M. (Fischer) Hoy. On April 17, 1982, in Traverse City, he married Gina M. Calangelo.
Randy was a Cub Scout and Boy Scout leader and also helped with Brownies. He had been a scout master and an organizational representative of the Cub Scouts. Randy was a noon-time volunteer at Blair School and was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church of Interlochen. He enjoyed gardening and model rockets.
Survivors include his wife, Gina; his children, Randy Lee, Cameron, Larissa, and Branden; his parents, Lee and Kay Hoy of Traverse City; two sisters, Kathy (Sam) Johns of Escondido, California, and Vickie (Ross) Schuch of Traverse City; a brother, Michael Hoy and his fiancee, Rebecca Tomaszewski, of Williamsburg; his grandmother, Helen Hein of Traverse City; several aunts and uncles; and many nieces and nephews.
Randal was preceded in death by his stepgrandfather, Louis Hein.
Friends may call at the time of services which will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Redeemer Lutheran Church of Interlochen; the Rev. Tim Mowry will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Hoy children, c/o Redeemer Lutheran Church of Interlochen.
