Ralph N. VanWagoner, Jr., 80, of Harbor Beach passed away Sunday, Nov. 27, 2005 at Port Huron Hospital.
Born in Oxford on June 12, 1925, he was the son of the late Ralph N. and Grace (Hempstead) VanWagoner, Sr.
Ralph was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Benjamin Franklin.
He was an Eagle Scout in his youth and enjoyed carving duck decoys, playing his trumpet, especially big band music, and hunting and fishing. Ralph was a former member of the Oxford United Methodist Church, Duck’s Unlimited, and was a member of the Steelheaders Club.
Surviving are his wife Beatrice VanWagoner of Harbor Beach, two sons, Joseph P. VanWagoner and his wife Joy of Ponce De Leon, FL, and Terry VanWagoner and his wife Beverly, of Warren; three step children, James Moen of Hale, Esther Gaines of Germantown, Md., and Thomas Moen of Hale; 16 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will take place at noon on Thursday, Dec 1, 2005 at the Ramsey Funeral Home in Harbor Beach with Claudia Miller foliating. Creamation has taken place at Sunset Valley Crematory in Bay City and interment will be in the White Chapel Cemetery in Troy.
