Graveside services for Phillis I. Irvin were held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Liberty Cemetery, Newhope, Ark., with Rev. Raymond Dees officiating. Phillis Ilene Irvin, 64, of Newhope, Ark., died at noon Wednesday (June 27, 2001) at her home. Mrs. Irvin was a homemaker. She attended Banquo High School, and attended the McNatt Methodist Church and the Banquo Christian Church when living in Indiana. She was born July 28, 1936, in Wells County, to Francis William and Jessie True Murray Moorman. She married Desmon Irvin on Sept. 2, 1954. Her husband survives. Also surviving are two sons, James E. Irvin, Gaston, and Allen J. Irvin, Newhope, Ark.; four sisters, Mrs. Robert (Oma) Zent, Warren, Etta Kahlenbeck, Fort Wayne, Mrs. Roger (Freda) Smelser, Canadian, Texas, and Mrs. Ralph (Margaret) Banter, LaFontaine; and two grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her stepmother, Lela Jervis, and her brother, Edward Moorman. The Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood, Ark., was in charge of arrangements.
