Peter Calangelo, 80, of Leisure Village West, Manchester, died Sunday, April 29, 2007, At Hackensack University Medical Center, Hackensack. He worked for United Parcel Service in Maspeth, NY, for 30 years before retiring as a supervisor in 1984. Born in Queens, he lived in the New York area for 58 years before moving to Manchester in 1984. He was a member and past president of the Organ Club of Leisure Village West, a fine musician and artist, and an avid golfer who managed the Starters for the Lakehurst Naval Air Base Golf Club.
Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Eleanor; two brothers, Louis and Anthony Calangelo; four nephews, John, Christopher, and Stuart Orefice, and Ralph LaBella; and six nieces, Janice Dehn, Denise Geromanos, Nicole Sessa, Thea Pace, and Donna and Patty LaBella.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Oliverie Funeral Home, 2925 Ridgeway Road, Manchester. A funeral liturgy will be offered at 10 am Thursday at St. John’s Church, Lakehurst, with entombment to follow at St. Catherine’s Cemetery, Wall.
