Perry Loren Groesser, 70, of Ellsworth, passed away quietly at home on Friday, May 27, 2005.
He was born Sept. 1, 1934, in Bingham Township, Leelanau County, the son of Perry and Bertha (Lambert) Groesser. On July 11, 1953, he married Betty Herman, and they made their home in Suttons Bay. They moved to Ellsworth in 1962.
Loren was employed as a truck driver for Howes & Howes & Smith Trucking. Later he worked as a tool and die maker at Willflow in Charlevoix. He was instrumental in starting Little League Baseball in Ellsworth.
Surviving is his wife Betty; children, Bonnie (Gary) Hebden of Navarre, Fla., Darlene (Rusty) Bolser of East Jordan, Edward Groesser of Lansing, Cindy Groesser of Ellsworth and Ken (Debbie) Groesser of Ellsworth; 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren; a sister, Bethel (Clifford) Bye of East Jordan and a brother, Lee (Wanda) Groesser of Lake City.
Friends may call at Hastings Funeral Home in Ellsworth on Wednesday, June 1 from 5 to 7 pm.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 2 at the Ellsworth Wesleyan Church with the Rev. Chris Wallace officiating. Inurnment will be in Ellsworth Cemetery.
