Percy W. Briggs, 96, of Pineview Rest Home, Hillman and formerly of Gladwin, died Wednesday, Jan. 11, in Rogers City Hospital after a long illness. Born in Bay City on December 8, 1887, he spent his youth in Butman Township. He spent winters in lumber camps in Michigan and Canada. He then moved to Rochester and worked for Park Davis Co. After retiring, Mr. Briggs moved to the farm homesteaded by the Westovers in Butman Township. In 1982 he moved to Atlanta to live with his son.
Mr. Briggs was married to the former Blanche Westover in 1909. She preceded him in death in 1967. He then married Grace Sprague and she died in 1975. Surviving are one son, Chester of Atlanta. A memorial service will be held Saturday at 1p.m. from the Hall Funeral Home, Gladwin Chapel, with the Rev. Donald Bates officiating.
