Penny Sue Covault, 57, of Lafayette, died at 9:20 am Sun, Oct 8, 2006, at Home Hospital. She had battled cancer since 2004.
Born Jan 20, 1949, to the late Tex A. and Esther A. Underwood in Bluffton, she attended Waynetown High School and Ivy Tech State College.
Her marriage was to Steve Covault on Jun 30, 1978, in Nashville, TN, and he survives.
Mrs. Covault was a teller at Bank One for 10 years and worked part-time at Arrowhead Bowl.
She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and enjoyed bowling, gardening, fishing, crafts, mushrooming, playing cards and bingo.
Surviving with her husband are four sons, Jeffrey L Bartelson (wife: Jennifer) of Darlington, Steve Covault (wife: Donna) of Crawfordsville, Richard Covault (wife: Liz) of Darlington and Brandon Covualt (finace: Kim Draper) of Lafayette; two daughters, Tracy Simms (fiance: Tom Crane) of Crawfordsville and Lisa D Monroe (husband: Scott) of Lafayette; four brothers, Ricky L Underwood (wife: Jeni) of Crawfordsville, Pat Underwood (wife: Sue) of AZ, Donald Lang of Waynetown and David Lang (wife: Jean) of Corpus Christi, TX; and two sisters, Ann Robison (husband: John) of Clear Lake, IA, and Mary Hall (husband: Jim) of Shelbyville.
Visitation will be 4-8 pm Wed at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd. Private family burial at Green Lawn Cemetery in Darlington. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and her other parents, Donald “Pete” and Martha Rennick of Montezuma. Preceded in death by a sister, Nikki Glenn. In lieu of flowers, those wishing may contribute to the American Cancer Society.
