Pearl Skowronski of Battle Creek, peacefully passed away Thu, Sep 21, 2006 at Battle Creek Health System after a lengthy illness.
Pearl was born Dec 4, 1922 in Fife Lake, MI to Fred and Florence (Noel) Gonyer. She was the oldest of six and was the only girl. She graduated in 1939 from Fife Lake High School in Fife Lake, and moved to Battle Creek in 1940. She worked at Eaton’s during the war years. In 1946, she married Elwin Haire. He preceded her in death in 1972. In 1980 she retired from Post Cereals after 32 years of service as a line inspector.
Pearl married Raymond Skowronski on Jul 21, 1980 at St. Jerome Catholic Church.
She enjoyed gardening, cooking for others, polka dancing, traveling with her family and going to the casinos occasionally. She was a member of the Post 25 Year Club. She especially enjoyed her time spent with her husband, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Pearl is survived by her loving husband, Raymond, an only son Bruce (Jean) Haire of Battle Creek, grandson, Christopher (Kim) Haire of Battle Creek, granddaughter Kelly (Rollin) Mains of Detroit and three great grandchildren Drew and Alysha Haire and Ryan Mains and brothers, Louie and Art Gonyer of Fife Lake, MI and Fred Gonyer of Battle Creek. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Robert and Walter Gonyer.
At the request of the family, they will receive friends Friday (today) from 1 to 3 and 5 to 7 pm at the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 11 am Saturday at the funeral home with Deacon Hal Bohan officiating. Interment will follow in Bedford Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army or the Charitable Union.
