Paul W. Hjelte, 71, a Kalkaska resident most of his life, died Sun, Oct 24, 1993, at Munson Medical Center, Traverse City.
He retired from his salesman's position at Art's Auto Electric in Traverse City in 1983 Prior to that , he worked at M.J. MacIntosh, Traverse City. He was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Kalkaska.
Born in Torch Lake Township Jun 21, 1922, he was the son of the Axel and Nellie (Powell) Hjelte.
On Jul 9, 1941, in Alden, he married the former Mary Baker, who survives.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Brenda (James) Tomlin of Montgomery, AL; a sister, Margaret Kesicki of Elk Rapids; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, two daughters, and one, brother Leonard (Pat)
Services will be held Wed, Oct 27, 1 pm, at the Elk Rapids Chapel of Covell Funeral Homes. Pastor David Stramel will officiated. Burial will be at Maple Grove Cemetery in Elk Rapids.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Kalkaska Memorial Health Center or the Kalkaska Seventh Day Adventist Church.
