Paul Joseph Callan, 75, died Fri, Mar 12, 2004 at his home in Kalkaska.
He was born Mar 9, 1929, in Midland County's Jerome Township, son of the late John J and Nancy (Brace) Callan. He attended St Brigid Catholic School and Midland Public School.
He honorably served with the US Army as an MP during the Korean War. He was a member of the Midland VFW Post #3651 and a past member of the Midland American Legion Berryhill Post #165.
Mr. Callan was a licensed journeyman plumber and member of the Plumbers and Steamfitters Local 85. He worked for Faulkner Construction Company, and within the Dow Chemical Company and Dow Corning.
On May 22, 1987, he married Patricia (Shilson) Toth. His hobbies included woodworking, gadgets of all kinds, his computer, photography, and taking pictures of sunsets.
He is survived by his wife, Pat; children, Paula (Michael) Boots, Diane Berlin, Cheryl Meyers, Jean Callan, Carol Patrick, Pam Callan and Wendy Vance; stepchildren, Ronald (Marlene) Toth, John (Sandra) Toth, Paul (Dawn) Toth, Audra Toth, Julia Ashworth, and Mary Anne Toth; grandchildren, Michael (fiance, Tiffany), Jim, Kevin, Joel, Sean, Scott, Bo, Chance, Lindsey, and Skylar; step grandchildren, Caroline, Jackson, Corinne, Joseph, Josh, Daniel, Ryan, Jenna, Laura, and Michelle; step great grandchildren, Brenden and Joe Joe, and sister in law, Mary Dibble. He was predeceased by his brothers, John and Charles; granddaughter, Michele Boots; and step granddaughter, Kristina Toth.
Funeral services took place Mar 16 from the Ware-Smith Woolever Funeral Chapel, 1200 W Wheeler St, Midland. The Rev. Paul Schneider of Holy Scripture Lutheran Church officiated, with graveside committal rites in Sanford Cemetery in Sanford. Military honors will be presented by the Midland area veterans.
