Services for Paul Herman Shafer, 69, of 540 N.E. Forty-third Ave. will be at noon Friday at Hamilton's Funeral Home, with burial in Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Mr. Shafer died Wednesday of a heart ailment at his home. He had been ill a year.
A native of Grimes, Mr. Shafer moved to Des Moines 48 years ago and was a retired employee of Borden Milk Co. He was a WWII veteran and member of Teamsters Local 387.
Survivors include his wife, Annie; two sons, Paul Junior and David R. both of Des Moines; two daughters, Alice Hollingsworth of Altoona and Ruth A. Bartlet of Des Moines; three stepsons, Jack and Bob Dove, both of Des Moines, and Donald A. Davis of Altoona; two stepdaughters, Nancy Simpsons and Sharon Coffin, both of Des Moines; a sister, Gladys Sweet of Des Moines; 12 grandchildren, six great grandchildren, 16 step grandchildren and a step great grandchild.
