Paul Donald Nora, 49, of Kalkaska, passed away Sep 11 at the Munson Medical Center in Traverse City, four days shy of his 50th birthday, after battling Multiple Myeloma for two and a half years.
Paul was born on Sep 15, 1958 to Donald and Germaine Nora in Detroit, MI.
He is survived by three sisters; Barbara Sorenson of East Jordan, MI, Donna (Michael) Elmore of Panama City, FL, and Patricia (Alireza) Abbasabadi of Big Rapids, MI.
In addition to his sisters, Paul has two nieces; Rebecca (Lorin) JOrgensen of Panama City, FL and Karen Elmore of Pensacola, FL, and one great niece: Alexis Jorgensen.
There are also many close friends who Paul considered to be family.
Paul graduated from Redford Union High School in 1976; from Hope College, with undergraduate degrees in biology and chemistry, in 1980 and from Wayne State University with his MD in 1984.
He was a kind and caring Family Practitioner in Harlan, IN, and Big Rapids, MI. He later returned to Detroit and completed his forensic pathology Residence and Fellowship in 2003.
From that point, Paul worked in the Minneapolis and Detroit areas as a forensic pathologist until the onset of his illness in 2006.
Paul was an avid Detroit sports fan and enjoyed a variety of outdoor activities, including hunting, hiking, golfing, and fishing. He also enjoyed high performance Mustangs, reading, playing pool and cars, and being with family and friends. He was a lifetime member of the NRA and NAHC, as well as being President of the CLBC.
