Otto E. Matt, 88, of Kalkaska, died Mon, Nov 18, 1996, at his residence.
A retired auto mechanic, Mr. Matt moved to Kalkaska from Brighton in 1974. He was a member of the Mancelona Moose Lodge and St. Paul Lutheran Church in Kalkaska. He enjoyed fishing and hunting.
Mr. Matt was born in Rhame, ND on Feb 27, 1908, to Gottlieb and Theresia Weisz Matt. He married Frieda Guenther on Dec 18, 1929, in Milan.
Surviving are his wife Frieda; sons William (Shirley) Matt of Germfask and John (Mary Ruth) Matt of Whitmore Lake; daughter Dorothy Lewis; sisters Ida Pfeiffer of FL, Anna Coppera of Brighton and Elsie Hack of Gregory; nine grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Sisters Edna Plasters, Emma Bell, and Erna Edwards preceded him in death.
Funeral services were held Nov 22 at the Wolfe Funeral Home in Kalkaska. Rev. Ted Turanski, pastor of St. Paul Lutheran Church , officiated.
Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery, Kalkaska.
