Mrs. Opal L. Groner, 85, a lifelong resident of Kalkaska County, died Tue, Dec 31, 1991 at Lansing General Hospital.
Mr. Groner served for 34 years as Excelsior Township Treasurer. She was a member and former Sunday School teacher at the Excelsior Church of Christ, a member of the Excelsior Ladies Aid, the Excelsior Birthday Club, The Kalkaska Historical Society, and four 25 years was a sewing leader in Kalkaska County 4-H.
Mr. Groner was born in Kalkaska County Apr 6, 1906 to Daniel and Mabel Dean Krepps. On Sep 15, 1925, in Mancelona, she was united in marriage with Arlo Groner who died on Jul 4, 1967.
Surviving are one son, Norman Groner of Kalkaska; one daughter, Alta Bennett of Williamsburg; one son in law, Bernard Bateman of Hold; three brothers, Maurice Krepps of Freesoil, Donald Krepps of Lansing, and Russell Krepps of Kalkaska; three sisters, Mrs. Edna Hittle, Mrs. Edit Sieting, and Mrs. Eileen Ehl all of Kalkaska; eight grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
One daughter, Hilda Bateman; one granddaughter, Rita Rhoades; one great grandson, John Chapman; two brothers, Willard and Orval Krepps; and Norma Jean Krepps, preceded her in death.
Funeral services were held Fri, Jan 3, 1992, at the Wolfe Funeral Home in Kalkaska. Jeff Badgero officiated. Burial was in Excelsior Township Cemetery, Kalkaska County.
