Oliver P. Williams, 78, died Fri afternoon at three o’clock at his home, 1135 East Front street following an illness of eleven months. Mr. Williams was born in IN Aug 6, 1868 and came to MI with a small boy with his parents.
He was married to Elizabeth Dundon of Cheboygan at Walton Junction in 1891. To this union were born five children, Mrs. Floyd Maney of Mt. Pleasant; John Williams of Pocalella, ID; Charles Williams of Manistee; Bert Williams of this city. A son Harry, died in 1926.
Surviving beside his widow, are four children, six grandchildren; two great grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Jane Wilbur; Mrs. Cena Frasier of Grand Rapids; Mrs. Emory Smith of Pontiac; a brother, Arthur Williams of Rudyard; several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Williams was employed at the Pennsylvania railroad for 40 years retiring in 1939. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Railroad trainmen and a life long resident of the Grand Traverse Region.
The body was taken to the Sampson Funeral Home to remain until time of services to be held Tue afternoon at 2:30 with the Rev. Howard R. Towne officiating. Burial will be made in Oakwood Cemetery.
