Olga Mae Bushong, 93, died Oct 31 at the Riverview Manor Nursing Home in Three Rivers.
Mrs. Bushong was born Dec 30, 1902 in South Boardman to Samuel Emmett M.D. and Maude (Dick) Neihardt. On Jun 14, 1933 she married Benjamin Burroughs Bushong M.D. He preceded her in death Nov 21, 1983. For many years they were residents of Traverse City and more recently of Centreville.
She graduated from Rice Lake Academy, WI in 1918 and from Central Michigan Normal School, Mt Pleasant in 1922. She taught in several country schools and also in Petoskey High School. She was a charter member of Northwestern Symphony Society in Traverse City, the Munson Medical Center Auxiliary, past president of the Michigan Garden Clubs and Michigan Women's Club. She was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church in South Boardman, Traverse City, and Centreville.
Surviving are a son Benjamin B. and Mary Jane Bushong of Traverse City; three daughters Ellen (Leland) Thronton of Centreville, Catherine Eubank's of Rolla, MO, Alice Bushong of Grand Rapids; six grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; a sister Helen Leu of Swanton, OH; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and eight brothers and sisters.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service was held Monday at the Centreville United Methodist Church. Rev. Dr. Michael Conklin officiated. Burial of Cremains will be in the South Boardman Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Munson Medical Center Auxiliary.
