Nina E McLean, 84, passed away on Jan 2, 2008, at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City. Born on Jan 27, 1923, in Six Lakes, she is the daughter of the late Albertus and Mary (Marshall) Outman.
Nina graduated from Kalkaska High School when she was 16 in 1939. She married Burl D "Mac" McLean on Jan 7, 1942 in Boston, MA. Together they moved back to Kalkaska in 1957. Nina was instrumental in starting McLean Hardware and worked there until her retirement in 1982. She loved traveling with Mac and Vera and Don Bullard, her sister and brother in law. Together they would stay most winters in Wauchaula, FL. Nina also enjoyed playing cards at Kalkaska Senior Center. Her biggest enjoyment in life was her children and grandchildren.
Nina is survived by her sons, Gene B (Doris) McLean and Bob (Vicky) McLean all of Kalkaska; her six grandchildren, Jim, Julie, Judi, Jodie, Jason, and Stephanie; eight great grandchildren; her siblings, Ronald Outman of Alma, Agnes Wymer of Six Lakes, Vera Bullard of Greenville, and Bruce (Doris) Outman of Edmore; and her sister in law, Opal Outman of Cadillac.
Nina was preceded in death by her husband Mac in Oct 2003; her daughter, Lynn Joan McLean in Sep of 1946; her brother, Leslie "Ike" Outman; her sister, Nell Thorington.
Visitation was held on Sat, Jan 5, at Wolfe-O'Neill Funeral Home. The funeral service was Sun at the funeral home, with Dan Johnson and Jeff Badgero from the Kalkaska Church of Christ officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery.
