Newton J Miller, 83, of South Boardman passed away on Oct 7, 2004, at Kalkaska Memorial Health Center in Kalkaska. He was born on Apr 19, 1921, in Garfield Township, the son of Bert and Marguerite (Anker) Miller.
Newton was a WWII veteran serving in the US Army. He married Lucille A Hall on Jun 9, 1944, in South Boardman. Newton worked for the DNR and retired after 30 years of service. He loved music and could play 17 instruments, his favorites being the steel guitar, fiddle, guitar, and mandolin. He played for many dances over the years and recently would play at the Kalkaska Senior Citizen Center. Newton enjoyed tinkering with cars, his pair of Ponies, and driving around in the country.
Surviving Newton is his wife, Lucille; sisters, Lorene Sieffert of Kalkaska and Joan (Ralph) Clous of Kingsley; brother in law, John Spencer; sister in law, Lucille Miller; and many nieces and nephews.
Newton was preceded in death by his brother, Wayne, and sisters, Nita, Maisy, Myrna, Edna, and Elna Yvonne.
The funeral service was held on Oct 9, at Wolfe Funeral Home. The Rev. Kimberland Hough of Garfield Country Church officiated. Military honors were provided by Kalkaska VFW Post 8684. Interment was at Garfield Township Cemetery.
