Neva M Thornburg, 82, passed away Apr 24, 2009, at Kalkaska Memorial Health Center - LTC. She was born Nevada May Apple on Nov 1, 1926, in Benton Harbor to the late George and Mildred (Blair) Apple.
Neva married Walter Thornburg on Jul 6, 1979, in Kalkaska. They were married 29 years when Walter passed away in Oct of 2008.
Together they raised two wonderful daughters. Neva was an excellent homemaker and took great pride in her home and children. She was a fantastic cook, and would always make room at the table for anyone stopping by.
Neva loved crafts. She was a great seamstress who could sew anytihng. She and Walter enjoyed spending their winters in Fairhope, AL and their summers in Michigan.
She was also a lifetime member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. Neva was a Christian and attended the Kalkaska Church of Christ. She was always taking care of everyone and will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and her great grand dog Shelby.
She is survived by her loving daughters, Sandy (Edward) Heinz of Waxhaw, NC, and Diane (Leroy) Fleisher of Hamilton; her dear stepchildren, Randy Thornburg of Grand Rapids, and Dawn Thornburg of Chicago, IL and her six precious grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Neva was preceded in death by her parents; her devoted husband Walter and her son William D "Billy" Wyman.
A memorial service for Neva was held Mon, Apr 27, 2009 at 11 am at the Kalkaska Church of Christ, with Dan Johnson officiating.
Visitation was held one hour prior to service at the church.
Burial will be in evergreen Cemetery.
Arrangements were made by Wolfe-O'Neill Funeral Home.
