Nellie M. Hamilton, age 93, passed away on April 25, 2012 at Kalkaska Memorial Health Center - L.T.C. Nellie was born in Kalkaska on January 29, 1919 to the late John J. and Bertha (McCool) Tanner.
She married Floyd Albert Hamilton on July 16, 1935 in Kalkaska. Together the raised 2 wonderful daughters. Nellie retired from the Kalkaska Hotel which she helped manage and then went on to work in the Senior Companion Program with the Kalkaska Commission on Aging. She was a member of the Kalkaska Church of Christ.
Nellie enjoyed reading, embroidery work, fishing, and loved berry picking. Her kindness and compassion will be missed by all those that knew and loved her.
Nellie is survived by her devoted daughters, Yvonne (Virgil) Peck of Traverse City and Monna Kiel of Mancelona; her dear sister, Josephine Aldridge of Cadillac; 9 cherished grandchildren; and many precious great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Floyd; her grandson, Ricky A. Kiel; 3 brothers, Milo, Thad, and Gene; her sister Marvel; and her son-in-law, Darrel Kiel.
Funeral services for Nellie were held on Tuesday, May 1st at Wolfe-O'Neill Funeral Home, with Mark McCool of the Antrim Church of Christ officiating. Burial was in Oliver Township Cemetery.
