Neil L. Allen, age 68 of Clare, passed away Monday, July 9, 2007. Neil was born the son of Carl and Jeanette (Houghton) Allen on July 19, 1938 in Troy. He was united in marriage to Gail Shimmell on November 25, 1972. Together Neil and Gail had lived in Clare since coming from Troy in 1992. Neil had worked for 30 years as a truck driver for GM; he had also worked as a Heavy Equipment operator. Neil had been a volunteer fireman in Troy; he enjoyed fishing, boating and car racing, and had belonged to the MidMichigan Model Railroaders Club in Clare. Neil was a member of the Harrison Church of God.
Neil is survived by his wife Gail; sons Richard (Rose) White of Tenn., Robert (Dawn) White of Clarkston, Randal (Kim) White of Beaverton, and Ron (Jeanna) White of Clare; his daughters Renee White of Romeo, and Shelly (Mike) McKimmy of Beaverton; his brother Carlton (Myrna) Allen of Indian River; a sister Janet (Bob) Crane of North Port; 17 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Neil was predeceased by his parents.
