Nancy Sue Carnes, 66, rural Montpelier, died at 6:30pm, Wed, Jul 23, 2008, at Miller’s Merry Manor in Dunkirk.
Mrs. Carnes was born Jul 18, 1942, in Hartford City, to Paul L. and Ilene (Schwartzkopf) Hornbaker. Her mother survives in Montpelier. She married Arthur W. Carnes Jr. on Jun 3, 1961 in Montpelier; her husband survives.
She was a 1960 graduate of Montpelier High School and was a retired employee of Blackford County Schools. She was an active member at Zion Lutheran Church in Hartford City. She was a member of the Psi Iota Psi sorority, the Blackford County Community Chorus, and the Blackford County Extension Chorus.
Surviving in addition to her husband and mother are two daughters, Lynn Ann (Rick) Hughes of Fishers and Sueanne (Wijnand) Guns of Rijswick, Netherlands; a son, Stephen (Tracy) Carnes of Grand Blanc, MI; five grandchildren; and a brother, Wallace P (Ruth) Hornbaker of Orlando, FL.
Services will be held at 4pm Mon at the Glancy Funeral Home, Walker Chapel, Montpelier, with Rev. Mary Lundquist officiating. Burial will be at the Brookside Memorial Park, Montpelier. Calling will be from 1 to 7pm Sun at the funeral home.
Preferred memorials are to the Zion Lutheran Church, 308. S. Monroe St., Hartford City, or to the Montpelier-Harrison Township Cancer Society.
