Nancy Jean Conley, age 79, resident of Locust Grove, GA, passed away Jul 17, 2015 after a long battle with pancreatic cancer. She was born in Detroit, MI May 13, 1936 to Mabel (Tolbert) and George Alexander Cowan. She attended Mackenzie High School in Detroit and the University of Detroit. She was married to Lloyd James Conley Sep 30, 1961 in Dearborn, MI.
She worked for American Airlines in Detroit as a ticket agent until moving to the San Fernando Valley in California in 1962 and to Thousand Oaks, CA in 1971. She retired as a health clerk from the school district in 1992, and relocated to Palm City, FL, then Tallahassee, FL in 2002, and Locust Grove, GA in 2005.
Nancy acquired many friends during her lifes journey and maintained close relationships with most of them. She had a great love for dogs, horses, cooking, decorating, reading, crossword puzzles, political TV news and HGTV shows. She also enjoyed sewing and knitting for family and friends and shopping with her daughter and granddaughters.
She is survived by her husband Lloyd James Conley of Locust Grove, GA; children, Gregory Jon Conley (Trish) of Palmdale, CA; Scott George Conley (Rosanna) of Boynton Beach, FL; Brent James Conley (Denise of Marlton, NJ; and Dara Leigh Southerland (Richard) of Santa Rosa Beach, FL. Grandchildren, Travis Conley, Breanna Conley, Kayla Conley, Amber Conley, Shane Conley, and Bryce Southerland. Her parents and only brother George Donald Cowan (Nancy) preceded her in death. Private family services were held in Locust Grove, GA. Arrangements were under the direction of SouthCare Cremation & Funeral Society.
