Nancy E. Murray, 74, of Kalkaska, formerly of Mt. Clemens and Charlevoix, died Sunday, June 19, 2005.
A funeral service was planned for 10:30 am Wed, Jun 22, at the First Congregational Church in Charlevoix. The Rev. Mary Willis will officiate and burial will be in Norwood Cemetery.
Nancy was born Feb. 20, 1931, in Dayton, Ohio, the daughter of Ronald A. and Mildred (Vance) Lazure. She graduated from Shortridge High School in Indianapolis, then attended Indiana University. She worked as an x-ray technician.
Nancy married Robert J. Murray Feb. 2, 1951. They made their home in Mt. Clemens, where Nancy raised her family and served as public information chairman for the Michigan Cancer Foundation and president of the Macomb Town Hall.
In 1976 they moved to Charlevoix, where she was a member of the Northwest Shrine Club and Garden Club, and was active in "Save the Trees."
After Robert Sr. died in 1986, she relocated to Kalkaska, where she served on Kalkaska's Planning Commission, as a board member for Kiwanis, and was active in the annual tree decorating fund-raiser for KAIR.
Nancy was employed by her son, Robert, at Preferred Properties.
She is survived by her sons, Robert J. of Kalkaska, David R (Pamela), of Naples, Fla., John G (Barbara) of Charlevoix; and six grandchildren.
