Mildred J Lewis, 81, of Kalkaska, died Thu, May 13, 1999, at Kalkaska Memorial Health Center.
A lifelong resident of Kalkaska, Mrs. Lewis was a former member of the Eve Club and the Kalkaska County Library Board. She enjoyed sewing, crafts, and baking. Born in Kalkaska on Jan 25, 1918, she was the daughter of the late George and Hannah Anderson Hall. On Jul 4, 1936, in Traverse City, she married Melburn Lewis who survives.
Besides her husband, she is survived by sons George Lewis of Fife Lake and Richard Lewis of Kalkaska; daughter Carol Mitchell of Kalkaska; brother Ken Huffman of Lansing; special niece Patricia Gomolak of Kalamazoo; five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by sisters Beatrice Hamel and Minnie Mattison, and half brother Etna Hawkins.
Graveside services are at 4 pm Sat, May 22 at Evergreen Cemetery.
