Miss Mildred A. Rowell, 89, of Kalkaska, died Sat, Mar 16, 1991 at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City.
Miss Rowell moved to Kalkaska in 1930 from Evart. She was a graduate of Central Michigan University and Eastern Michigan University, and received her Masters degree from the University of Michigan. She retired in 1967, after teaching for 37 years in the Traverse City Public School System. Miss Rowell was a life member of the Michigan Education Association and the National Education Association. She enjoyed quilting, and was a "second Mom" to many children in her family.
Miss Rowell was born in Alberta, Canada on Nov 12, 1901 to Lyman and Mac Easlick Rowell.
Surviving are four brothers, Jack Rowell of Muskegon, and Kenneth Rowell, Wilson Rowell and Woodrow Rowell all of Kalkaska; two sisters, Carrie Honaman of Merrill and Dorothy Robinson of Harrietta; and many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
One sister, Ethel Spence, preceded her in death.
Funeral services were held Tue, Mar 19, 1991 at the Wolfe Funeral Home in Kalkaska. E. Dan Johnson, pastor of the Kalkaska Church of Christ, officiated. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery, Kalkaska.
