Michael L Krause, Newaygo, retired Lt., age 64, of Newaygo, died Fri, Sep 4, 2009 at Gerber Memorial Health Services in Fremont. He was born Machael LaVern Krause in Muskegon, the son of Marie Mildred (Johnson) and William Frederick Krause on Dec 11, 1944. He grew up in the Muskegon area before joining the Marine Corps where he served his country from Apr 4, 1963 until Aug 3, 1966 with a tour in Vietnam being discharged as a Sgt E5. He was a Police Officer from Nov 1966 until Jun 1993 for the city of Muskegon retiring after 26 years as a Lt. He was a life member FOB of Twin Lake, and an avid hunter & fisherman. He is survived by his son Mike & Tammy Krause, his daughter Missy & Mike Kelley of Indian Rocks Beach, FL, his step son James Sliwinski & Deb Zak of Bridgeton, his grandchildren Henry & Rachel, Becky & Nick, Eli, Ellen, Alex & Taylor, Leah, and Alaina, and his great granddaughter Selina, his brother Frank & Mary Ann Krause of Lamont, his sisters, Karen & Hugh Betz of Traverse City, Karlene & Jermey Green of Brighton, and several nieces & nephews. A memorial service and luncheon will be held at 2 pm from the FOP-Twin Lake on Sun, Sep 13, 2009 with the FOP Chaplain officiating. Full military and police honors will rendered.
