Flaherty, Michael E., 84, of Wheeling, died Tuesday, August 22, 2006 in Ohio Valley Medical Center, Wheeling.
Mike was born April 10, 1922 in Wheeling, a son of the late Michael and Emma (Taylor) Flaherty.
He was retired from Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel, Benwood Plant, a Catholic by faith, lifetime member of the Kain Club, a member of the I.O.L.A. Club, Snake Club and Wheeling Eagles Aerie 344. In addition, he was a U.S. Army corps Veteran of WWII, serving in North Africa and Italy.
In addition to his parents, Mike was preceded in death by his wife, Consetta (Carone) Flaherty in 2004; three sisters, Mary Ann Huesman, Mary Katherine Joseph and Helen Staggs.
Surviving are a daughter, Michalene Hoskins and her husband, Ralph of Wheeling; two sons, Patrick Flaherty and his wife, Kathy of Wheeling and Michael Flaherty of Washington; three sisters, Clara Wheatley and her husband, Don of Wheeling, Elizabeth Kirchner of Wheeling and Genevieve Groger of Covington, KY; eight grandchildren, David Shelek of Elmira N.Y., Patrick Emily, Mikie and Lucas Flaherty and Jessika, Deric and Rachael Snodgrass; four great grandchildren, Rebecca Shelek of Elmira, N.Y. and Kate, Jake and Luke Shelek; several nieces and nephews.
