Michael "Big Mike" Dankenbring, 72, of Kalkaska, passed away Tue, Aug 25, 2009, at his home. He was surrounded by his loving family.
Born Aug 7, 1937, in Mulliken, he is the son of the late Henry and Dorothy (Rogers) Dankenbring.
Mike was a Veteran serving in the National Guard. He married Colleen K Harris on Jun 22, 1957, in Lansing. Together, they raised their family in Lansing until 1977 - and then moved to Kalkaska.
Mike retired from Kraft House in 2002, after working for 18 years. He wasn't happy unless he was working, hunting, fishing, or spending time with his family.
Mike was known as the "Bear Lake Handyman" because of his willingness to help and serve others.
Surviving Mike are his wife, Colleen, of 52 years; his children, Kathryn E (Marc) Cook of Grand Ledge, Kent C. (Pamela) Dankenbring of St James, FL, and Kary M (Tammy) Dankenbring of Cedar Springs; six grandchildren and his brother, Terry (Nancy) Dankenbring of Grand Ledge.
Preceding Mike in death were his two sisters, Lynne and Sally.
A memorial service took place Fri, Aug 28 at 1 pm. Visitation was from 11 am to 1 pm at the Bear Lake Christian Church.
Pastor David Rosenberg officiated the proceedings.
