Merle A. Calkins, 88, of Cheboygan, died Tuesday, March 19, 1991 at Cheboygan Health Care Center in Cheboygan.
Mr. Calkins had lived in Cheboygan for the past 14 years, and was a member of the Shilol Pentacostal Church. Prior to his retirement, he had been employed for 30 years at the Albion Division factory.
Mr. Calkins was born in Kalkaska County on April 26, 1902 to David and Verna Calkins. On June 16, 1977, in Spring Arborn, he was married to Leona Calkins, who survives.
Besides his wife, he is survived by one stepson, James Calkins of Spring Arbor; two step daughters, Roberta Babcock of Point Aux Pins, and Dana Ingersoll of Fife Lake; 11 step grandchildren; and nine step great-grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
He was preceded in death by six brothers and three sisters. Funeral services were held Friday, March 22, 1991 at the Wolfe Funeral Home in Kalkaska. Rev. Kim Hough officiated. Burial was in Garfield Township Cemetery, Kalkaska County.
