Melvin Mariage, 75, of Rapid City, a lifelong resident of Kalkaska County, died Sat, Sep 28, 1991 at his home.
Mr. Mariage served in the U.S. Navy during WWII, and was a member of Land O'Lakes Post 8684 V.F.W. in Kalkaska. Prior to his retirement, he was employed by Sheffer Collet Company in Traverse City.
Mr. Mariage was born in Kalkaska County on Jul 24, 1916 to Joseph and Iva Finney Mariage. He was married on Aug 5, 1950, in Napoleon, OH to Eve Ousnamer who preceded him in death on Apr 18, 1987.
He is survived by one son, Daniel Mariage of Flint; one daughter, Phyllis Barber of Rapid City; one brother, John Mariage of Boyne City; four sisters, Mary Aborizk and Plumie Waginer both of Huntington, WV, and Flossie Mosher and Albert Robinson both of Rapid City; one sister in law, Gretchen Mariage of Rapid City; seven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one son, Dennis, two brothers, George and Jim Mariage, and two sisters, Blanche Johnson and Rose Timmins.
Funeral services were held Tue, Oct 1, 1991 at the Wolfe Funeral Home in Kalkaska. Jerry Leazenby, pastor of the Rapid City Church of Christ, officiated. Burial was in Clearwater Township Cemetery under the auspices of Land O'Lakes Post 8684 V.F.W.
