A former resident of Kalkaska, Maxwell "Max" E. Larabee, 82, of Brighton, passed away April 5, 2003, at Howell Hospital, Howell.
Max was born on Aug. 9, 1918, at Pot Hole Corners in Kalkaska County, one of 11 children born to Harry E. and Nina A. Armstrong Larabee. He was a World War II veteran, serving in the U. S. Navy and was a member of the Brighton Jesse B. Collie Post No. 235 of the American Legion. On July 16, 1943, at Ann Arbor, he was united in marriage to Beulah L. Borden, daughter of Harvey and Lorainia Stockwell Borden.
Besides his wife, he leaves sons Richard (Karen) of Texas and Robert (Sandy) of Kalkaska; daughter, Cheryl Parks of Brighton; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He also leaves to mourn his passing brothers Cleo D. (Bethel) of Kalkaska and Rex A. (Annabelle) of Twin Lake; and sisters Leeta M. Martin, Beatrice E. (Ray) Patterson, Vivian L. Turnipseed and Nova D. (Don) Darke, all of Kalkaska.
Preceding him in death was a daughter, Karen L. Best; two brothers and two sisters.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on May 24, 2003, at Excelsior Church of Christ with the Rev. Rich- ard Whitehead officiating.
