Maureen Joy Butler, 51, a buildings management specialist who did inspection work for the Leased Facilities Division of the Defense Department, died of cancer Jan 4 at the Hospice of Northern Virginia. She lived in Alexandria.
Mrs. Butler was a clerk at the Internal Revenue Service and the General Services Administration before joining the Defense Department 15 years ago. she also worked for about 25 years as a handler at dog shows.
Mrs. Butler was born in Indian Head and was a graduate of Garfield High School in Woodbridge.
Survivors include her husband, Kyle Butler of Alexandria.
