Mary "Kate" (Torrence) Schein, 92, of Lancaster passed on Fri, Dec 4, 2009 at Fairfield Medical Center.
She was born May 26, 1917 in Pickerington, OH and was the daughter of the late Frank R and Ann Fenstermaker. Kate was a member of the First United Methodist Church where she worked with the Rose Ministry. She was a member of the American Legion, VFW Auxiliary and former member of Quota Club. She retired from Alten's Foundry.
She is survived by daughters, Diane (Dale) Mitchell, Linda (Paul) Beery, and Judy (Jake) Beery; son Rick Torrence; grandchildren, Becky (Chris) Dobson, Mike (Julie) Mitchell, Steve (Tammy) Mitchell, Kathy (Fred) Conkey, Christi (Bill) Squires, Kim (Rusty) Calendine, Howie (Jodi) Graf, and Jay (Amy) Graf; 18 great grandchildren; eight great great grandchildren; brother, Norm (Anne) Fenstermaker; sisters, Joanne Blevins, Pay (Denny) Leib; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Richard Torrence and Homer Schein; brothers, Bill and Jim Fenstermaker; sister, Harriett Crampton; daughter in law, Linda Torrence.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 am Mon at Halteman-Fett & Dyer Funeral Home with Rev. Sam Halverson officiating. Burial will be at Floral Hills Memory Gardens. Friends may call 3 to 6 pm Sunday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to First United Methodist Church.
