Mary J. Borkowski, 70, of Mancelona, died Mon, Aug 15, 1994, at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City.
She had been a resident of Mancelona for 17 years, moving from Sterling Heights. She was raised in Hamtramck and graduated from Hamtramck High School. She was a nurse, and she had been employed at St. Francis Hospital in Hamtramck and at Meadow Brook Medical Care Facility in Bellaire. She enjoyed reading and gardening. She was a member of the Antrim Church of Christ.
Born Apr 1, 1924, in Hamtramck, she was the daughter of Anthony and Julia (Liptak) Pavco. In Detroit on Jun 28, 1947, she was married to Chester Borkowski, who survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Sharon (E.T.) Garrett of Hopewell, VA and Susan White of Mancelona; three sisters, Margaret Gero of Trenton, NJ, Cecilia (Ernest) Protzer of Roseville, and Helen Winquest of Eastpoint; two brothers, Charles (Sonny) Gomory of Boston, MA, and Joseph (Joanne) Pavco of Farmington Hills.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Julia Stutzner and anna Coils.
Funeral services were held on Thu, Aug 18, at the Antrim Church of Christ with Pastor Mark McCool officiating. Burial was in Westwood Cemetery, Rapid River Township.
Memorials may be directed to the Antrim Church of Christ or the American Cancer Society. Funeral arrangements were handled by the Paullin Funeral Home in Mancelona.
