Mary F. Hjelte, 75, died Feb 13, 1998, in Montgomery, AL. She was a Traverse City area resident until 1994.
She was born in Plymouth on Jun 29, 1922 to Alton and Lois (Wilkinson) Baker. She was married to Paul Hjelte on Jul 9, 1941in Alden. He preceded her in death in 1993.
Mrs. Hjelte was employed by the Traverse City State Hospital for 30 years, retiring in 1984. She was a member of Kalkaska Seventh Day Adventist Church and enjoyed the outdoors, camping, crafts, and traveling.
She is survived by her daughter Brenda (James) Tomlin of Montgomery; two grandchildren, and one great grandchild.
Besides her husband she was preceded in death by her parents, a sister and a brother. Funeral services will be held at 1 pm, Wed, Feb 18, at Covell Funeral Home in Elk Rapids. Pastor David Stramel will officiate. Burial will be at Maple Grove Cemetery, Elk Rapids. Memorials may be made to Kalkaska Seventh Day Adventist Church.
